Who can use the Document Delivery Services

Baystate medical staff, residents, fellows and others who are authorized to use a Baystate Health cost center may request articles through the library. The request must be job-related.  Students must request articles through their school.

Unaffiliated health professionals and persons doing study or scholarly research need to register with the Health Sciences Library for approval to submit article requests through Loansome Doc.

Unaffiliated users and the public are welcome to access our print collection and library databases on site. Due to licensing restrictions we do not fulfill article requests for commercial and for-profit entities.

Requesting Articles

How to request an article

As a member of the Baystate community you can submit an article request by either of the two options below:

  1. Create a  Loansome Doc account through Pubmed
  2.  Health Sciences Library online request form

Our mission is to process and fill your requests as soon as possible. Incomplete citations may delay delivery, so please be as accurate as possible. Use of PMID or UI will expedite our delivery process.

As a Baystate community member, if you need assistance locating an article, the Health Sciences Library can access medical, nursing, allied health or health care related documents through our collections at Baystate. Documents that are not available at our library will be ordered through other lending libraries.

General turn around time is 24 hours or less for articles in our collection. Interlibrary Loan articles can take as little as one hour up to and including several days. Twenty articles or more may take up to two weeks to process, please plan accordingly.

Document Delivery

Delivery Options

We will provide electronic delivery of documents from print and electronic collections to your Baystate email address. We can also fax them, interoffice or print them for you to pick up at the reference desk if necessary. Please note that we can only process articles that are 40 pages or less.

Literature Searches

For literature searches, please contact the Health Sciences Library @ 794-1865.

FYI

There is no daily limit on the number of article requests you may submit. However when volume is high, we reserve the right to limit document delivery fulfillment to 10 articles per patron per day. For larger orders, we will continue to fulfill 10 requests per day until all your requests have been processed.
