This downloadable app, provided by the Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality, focuses on screening tools, counseling and preventive guidelines for patients.  Many screening tools are included in the full-text.

Access Medicine 

   

 

The AccessMedicine App is available to users at institutions with an unlimited site license. For download and continued access to the app, the user must have an active My Access account and sign in every 90 days through your institution, either on-site or through a VPN.

1. Navigate to the AccessMedicine homepage.

2. Click on your institution’s name inside the drop-down box in the upper right-hand corner of any page. Once there, click on “Create a Free Personal Account.”

3. A new window will appear. Click on the “Don’t have a MyAccess account” link.

4. Fill in the registration form under the heading, “Create a MyAccess Account.”

5. Press the CREATE ACCOUNT button and you’re ready to enjoy the benefits of having a My Access account. (To keep your MyAccess account active, you must sign in every 90 days through your institution, either on-site

3M™ Littmann® SoundBuilder

 The 3M™ Littmann® SoundBuilder  (free app available through i-Tunes) 

 This App is a learning tool designed to help improve the auscultation skills of students and practicing clinicians. There are 14 unique lessons - based upon key heart sounds - that combine text, a virtual mannequin, 3D cardiac animation and dynamic waveforms.

CASP (Critical Appraisal Skills Programme) offers a convenient way to evaluate the quality and validity of a study by answering a series of questions about the methods used. This app includes an evidence-based medicine glossary and calculators, such as number needed to treat (NNT).

Evernote is an application that is utilized extensively by the editors at iMedicalApps. It is a tremendous resource for storing PDF files, and more importantly — keeping track of all of your medical notes.  You can even add other Evernote users’ medical notes.

  1. Visit the iTunes App Store (Apple devices), Google Play Store (Android devices) or the Windows Store (Windows 8 devices) and search for "Micromedex," or click on the appropriate "Free Download" link below (next to the corresponding app store icons below).
  2. From all the Micromedex app results, select Free Micromedex Drug Reference for Internet Subscribers (Apple devices and Windows 8 devices) orFree Micromedex Drug Reference (Android devices). You may be prompted to enter your Apple, Google or Windows ID.
  3. The app should download directly to your device. (If you visited the iTunes App Store on your PC rather than your device, you may have to sync your device to iTunes on your PC, in order to load the app onto your device.)
  4. Open the app on your device.  For the password, go to Micromedex  within a baystate PC and you will see the password is step 4.  Enter the password  to begin using Free Micromedex Drug Reference for Internet Subscribers. The password is case-sensitive. Please enter it exactly as it appears.

Once on the the site you will see 3 separate set of instructions.

PsychiatryOnline Mobile Solution

This technology allows users to “pair” their smartphone or tablet to our institutional subscription.

Once paired, a user can access POL from their mobile device whenever and wherever there is an Internet connection available. Device pairings expire after 90 days, but can be “re-paired” at that time.

  1. Access your STAT!Ref subscription as you would normally.
  2. Once you are logged on, click the "My Stat!Ref" link in the upper right corner of the webpage.  
  3. Sign into Your STAT!Ref Preferences Account OR if you do not have a "Your Preferences" account you can set up your account by simply entering your name, state, phone number, e-mail address and a password.   NOTE: ALL end-users will need to set up their own individual Preferences Account to download the app.  
  4. Click on the Temporary Login Account Tab to activate the account.  NOTE: This is a "temporary login" is set for 90 days, at which time users will need "reactivate" the account.   
  5. To reactivate, just click the Activate/ Renew Button on the Temporary Login Account.  NOTE: We can change the number of days your account needs to reactivate from 90 to something greater if you would like.

Once you have set up a username and password via the My Stat!Re Account, just download the Free APP and then log on using the same u/n and p/w.

  1. From a Baystate PC, go to the Library Website http://libraryinfo.bhs.org and click on "UpToDate" (under selected resources)
  2. Click on login/register on top right side of page
  3. Create a new account by filling the text fields on the right half of the page. Remember the user  name and password that you create.
  4. On your mobile device, download the UpToDate app via the App Store (for iPhone and iPad) or   
     the Google Play Store (for Android devices).        

Open the app and log in with the user name and password that you just created.

Important! Please note that UpToDate Anywhere accounts expire after 30 days unless you connect to UpToDate through the Baystate CIS Portal or while on campus. Every time you connect through the portal or on campus the account is reset for another 30 days automatically.
