The Library & Knowledge Services
Located in the Chestnut Building on the main campus of Baystate Medical Center, the library offers quality information resources and knowledge services to advance patient care, research, education, community outreach and to support the administrative aspects of health care. The library offers efficient access to thousands of digital and print knowledge resources, major databases and clinical information, and supports their effective use through formal instruction and consultations. Library professionals help provide accurate and timely evidence based information at the point-of-care or at other convenient locations - and we offer remote access to our electronic resources.
Service hours are Monday – Friday, 7 am to 5 pm. Ext. 4-1865

Interlibrary Loan
|
The Library & Knowledge Services has approximately 62,000 combined journal and book titles in its current collection. In addition, to the library's collection, we are able to access any medical, nursing, allied health or health care related document or reference through Interlibrary Loan. Document delivery is available on a fee-based schedule. | |
Book Purchasing
|

Subscriptions

Departments may order or renew print and online serials subscriptions through the Library & Knowledge Services. Authorized signatures and valid department account numbers are required. |

Circulation
|
Items may be checked out only to registered persons with a valid BHS badge. Students from affiliated schools doing clinicals here (i.e., with a valid badge) are allowed to check out up to two items. No item may be renewed more than 2 times for anyone. Standard loan periods are: | |

Access |
The Library & Knowledge Services is open to all Baystate Health employees with 24/7 badge access and open to the general public during regular posted business hours. Hours are posted on the library’s web site, by the main entry door and are available by phone. Children under age 15 are not allowed in the library unless accompanied by a member of the Baystate staff. Anyone using the library after hours must not remove any materials. It is the responsibility of all persons using the library to follow institution policies regarding safety, confidentiality, proper use of equipment and resources as well as having on their person a current Baystate ID badge. Access will be denied to persons who do not follow these policies. |

Food and Drink | The library maintains a limited food and drink policy in the reading and study areas. NO food or drinks are permitted near any of the computers. Limited food and drinks allowed are beverages in spill proof containers and light snacks such as small items of packaged food. Open cups or glasses are not allowed in the Library. Cooked meals or foods that are greasy, messy or smelly are not allowed. All food wrappers and drink containers should be disposed of in the proper trash receptacles. |

The small conference room includes a conference table with seating for up to 8 people. The room also has a telephone, a PC along with a large display monitor and a large dry erase board.
