Welcome to BERST Academy's LibGuide

Baystate Education Research and Scholarship of Teaching members include attendings, VPs, midwives, spiritual leaders, researchers, QI specialists, and educators.   This LibGuide is designed for BERST members own use in the development of teaching skills.  This guide includes content from a variety of sources to help members self-assess and extend their own teacher and leader skills, using the key principles of education—motivation, reflection, innovation, and feedback.

Our BERST community works and learns together to develop as teachers, coaches, advisors, and leaders.  If you have questions, or suggested additional resources, please email

In these unprecedented circumstances, we are all being asked to extend beyond our normal way of working -- this includes how we teach and learn. Angela Sweeney, Curriculum Design Specialist in BERST Academy, has created BERST Remote Teaching Resourses Online to support the innovative development of online educational content for each other and our learners across the health professions.

Features include links to the following resources:

  • Considerations for teaching amid COVID-19
  • Baystate-supported tools for teaching
  • Clinical education resources
  • Presentation tools
  • Online conference resources
  • How to apply for continuing education credit with fast-tracking for COVID-19
  • A “How-to” and FAQ page that is regularly updated

Let’s keep learning.

Wishing you and yours good health,

We are very excited to announce the addition of Keynote Speaker,

Hilary Price to Graphic Medicine Rounds.

About Hilary Price

Hilary Price is a cartoonist, speaker and educator. She has been writing and drawing Rhymes With Orange, her award-winning daily newspaper comic strip, since 1995.  At the age of 25, she was the youngest woman ever to have a syndicated strip. It appears in newspapers internationally, and has also appeared in Parade Magazine, People, and Glamour.  She has cartoons in the collections of The Library of Congress, The Billy Ireland Cartoon Art Museum at The Ohio State University, and The San Francisco Cartoon Art Museum.   She now collaborates on Rhymes With Orange with Canadian cartoonist Rina Piccolo. Hilary teaches single panel cartooning at The Center For Cartoon Studies in White River Junction, VT.  She tells stories for The Moth and on NPR. When not at her desk, Hilary walks her overly large dog and spoils her hoodlum cat. She lives in western Massachusetts.
