Residents as Teachers Toolkit: Home

The Medical Education Office at Baystate Medical Center has compiled this guide for residents seeking development as teachers, learners, and critical thinkers, and for the program directors who want to assist them in that process.

Welcome to the Residents as Teachers Toolkit

Residents play an important role in the education of medical students and junior learners. This Toolkit is designed for residents' own use and use by program directors in the development of Resident Teachers.

Teaching skills encompass aspects of all six ACGME core competencies. This toolkit includes content from a variety of sources to help residents' self-assess and extend their own learning, as they help do the same for their learners.

If you have questions, or suggested additional resources, please email Rebecca Blanchard in Academic Affairs.

NEW! From Tufts University School of Medicine

The purpose of this guide is to support and inform resident’s teaching roles and responsibility by providing an introduction to key medical educational concepts and corresponding practical tips. The examples provided may come from a specific discipline, but the concepts are general and applicable across disciplines. The guide is based on a summary of relevant educational literature and the designer’s insights.
